Pakistan PM meets UAE President in Abu Dhabi
Shehbaz Sharif, Sheikh Mohamed discuss bilateral ties and regional developments
ABU DHABI: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, received Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday during the latter’s official day-long visit to the UAE.
The leaders met at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, where they exchanged Eid Al-Adha greetings and conveyed warm wishes for continued prosperity for their nations and peace across the Muslim world.
The meeting underscored the enduring ties between the UAE and Pakistan, rooted in mutual respect, shared interests, and historic cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening this relationship through deeper collaboration in economic, investment, and development sectors.
UAE-Pakistan ties
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif explored opportunities for broadening strategic partnerships, with emphasis on projects aimed at enhancing national development and prosperity for both peoples. The UAE has long been a significant development partner for Pakistan, contributing to key sectors through direct investment and humanitarian assistance.
The two leaders also discussed recent regional and international developments, voicing support for global efforts to promote peace, stability, and diplomatic solutions to ongoing conflicts.
Peace and diplomacy
PM Shehbaz Sharif commended the UAE’s diplomatic role in advancing dialogue and fostering peaceful resolutions worldwide. He praised the UAE President for his contributions to global security and for positioning the UAE as a stabilising force in international affairs.
During the visit, the Prime Minister expressed deep appreciation for the UAE’s continued support to Pakistan, particularly in development initiatives that address critical social and economic challenges.
High-level attendance
The meeting was attended by several key UAE officials including Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan. Other senior dignitaries included Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Mazrouei, and Dr Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei.
Prime Minister Sharif’s delegation comprised senior Pakistani ministers and officials. Upon arrival earlier in the day, he was welcomed at Al Bateen Airport by Sheikh Tahnoon and other high-ranking UAE representatives.
